About Invoice 14
Invoice 14 is invoicing software for freelancers and the self-employed, built and run by James Irving-Swift, a self-employed professional (autónomo) registered in Spain.
It started as the tool its founder needed: a way to create invoices quickly and easily, knowing every one was legally compliant — IVA, the IRPF retention, sequential numbering and now VERI*FACTU handled properly, without the weight of an accounting suite built for companies with a finance department.
Why it exists
Most invoicing apps are built for one country, or treat tax as a free-text field. For an autónomo in Spain that means working out the IRPF retention by hand, checking which IVA rate applies and, from 2027, finding software that sends every invoice record to the tax agency (AEAT). Invoice 14 builds those rules in, so a correct invoice is the default rather than something you have to remember.
The same rules cover customers abroad: the EU reverse charge, VAT numbers checked against the European Commission’s VIES service, and PDFs in English, Spanish, German, Italian or French.
Who is behind it
Invoice 14 is designed and built by James Irving-Swift. Email to hello@invoice14.com is answered by someone who works on the product, not an outsourced help desk.
As the software’s producer, James Irving-Swift has signed the VERI*FACTU responsible declaration (declaración responsable) required by Royal Decree 1007/2023. It is published on this site and names the exact software version it covers.
How it is paid for
Invoice 14 is paid for by its subscribers. The free plan covers up to 14 invoices a year with no card required; paid plans add volume, quotes, VERI*FACTU submission, branded invoices and team workspaces. There are no ads, and personal data is never sold or shared for advertising.
Where your data lives
The application and its database run on DigitalOcean in Frankfurt, Germany. Sign-in is handled by Clerk and email delivery by Resend; product analytics (PostHog) and error reporting (Sentry) are EU-hosted, and the analytics set no cookies. You can export everything or delete your workspace from Settings at any time.
