VERI*FACTU invoicing software: every invoice sent to the AEAT as you issue it
From 2027 every business and self-employed professional in Spain must issue invoices from software that meets the VERI*FACTU rules (Royal Decree 1007/2023). Invoice 14 is built as a VERI*FACTU system: when you issue an invoice, its record is sent to the Spanish tax agency (AEAT) at that moment, and the invoice comes out with the tax QR code and the “Factura verificable en la sede electrónica de la AEAT” legend.
No electronic certificate to install, no XML to generate, no separate tool. You sign a one-off authorisation, switch it on, and carry on invoicing.
What VERI*FACTU requires from your invoicing software
The RRSIF regulation (Royal Decree 1007/2023, developed by Order HAC/1177/2024) sets rules for the software itself, not just the invoice: every invoice must become an unalterable record, chained to the previous one and traceable, and invoices must carry a QR code that points at the AEAT’s verification service.
Software can meet the rules in two ways. In VERI*FACTU mode it sends every invoice record to the AEAT as it is issued and may print the verifiable legend. In non-VERI*FACTU mode it keeps signed records locally and must hand them over on request. Invoice 14 works in VERI*FACTU mode — the simpler one to live with, because there is nothing to keep, sign or export yourself.
Who has to comply, and from when
Under Royal Decree-law 15/2025 the deadlines are 1 January 2027 for companies subject to Corporate Income Tax and 1 July 2027 for everyone else in scope, including self-employed professionals (autónomos). Taxpayers under the SII (immediate supply of VAT information) are outside the RRSIF.
The dates have moved once already, so check the AEAT’s current guidance — but the direction is settled, and the AEAT is already accepting records, which means you can be ready well before your date.
How VERI*FACTU works in Invoice 14
Records are submitted through an authorised provider acting as a social collaborator of the AEAT, so you never upload your own electronic certificate to us. Setting it up takes two steps in Settings:
- Authorise the submission: the AEAT requires a one-off representation so the provider can submit on your behalf. Self-employed individuals sign it online from a link sent to their email; companies download a pre-filled form and their legal representative signs it with an electronic certificate.
- Go live: from then on every issued invoice is a legal record at the AEAT. Voiding an invoice sends a cancellation record.
- Optional sandbox first: send records to the AEAT’s test environment to see the QR and the legend on real-looking invoices before you switch to production. Test invoices carry an “ENTORNO DE PRUEBAS” mark and have no legal effect.
What you see on the invoice
Invoices whose records are submitted carry the AEAT tax QR (with your NIF, the invoice series and number, the date and the total, printed at the size the order requires) and the legend “Factura verificable en la sede electrónica de la AEAT”. Anyone who receives the invoice can scan the QR and check it against the tax agency’s records.
Invoices issued without VERI*FACTU carry neither — a QR without a submitted record only leads to a “not found” page at the AEAT, and the legend may only be printed by software that is actually submitting.
Built on the properties the rules depend on
Invoice 14 already treated invoices the way the RRSIF expects: they are numbered sequentially per series and become immutable the moment they are issued — a legal record can only be voided, never edited. Failures at the provider or the AEAT never block issuance: the record is queued and retried automatically, and you can see its status and retry it yourself from the invoice.
- Sequential numbering and immutable, append-only invoice records
- IVA rate presets (21%, 10%, 4%, 0%) and IRPF withholding on every invoice
- VIES-validated intra-EU reverse charge
- Compliant PDFs in Spanish, English, German, Italian and French
- Quarterly helpers for the Modelo 303 and 390, plus the 347 and 349
- The producer’s responsible declaration (declaración responsable) published on this site
Plans and cost
VERI*FACTU submission is included in the Plus and Ultimate plans at no extra cost — the provider’s fees are absorbed in the plan price, so there is no per-invoice charge. The Free plan lets you create compliant invoices without submission; upgrade whenever your deadline approaches.
Company onboarding is currently rolling out to a beta group; self-employed workspaces can enable VERI*FACTU today. Prerequisites: a Spanish workspace with its NIF set, invoicing in euros and VAT-registered.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an electronic certificate to use VERI*FACTU in Invoice 14?
Not as a self-employed individual: you sign the AEAT representation online from a link sent to your email, and the authorised provider submits on your behalf. A company’s legal representative signs the pre-filled representation form with an electronic certificate once; after that nothing further is needed.
Is VERI*FACTU an extra charge?
No. It is included in the Plus and Ultimate plans with no per-invoice fee. The Free plan does not submit records to the AEAT.
What happens if the AEAT is unavailable when I issue an invoice?
The invoice is issued normally and its record is queued: Invoice 14 retries automatically and shows the record’s status on the invoice, with a Retry button. Issuance is never blocked by a provider or AEAT outage.
Can I edit an invoice after it has been sent to the AEAT?
No — that is the point of the rules. An issued invoice is a legal record and can only be voided, which sends a cancellation record to the AEAT. Fix the details and issue a new invoice.
Can I try it before going live?
Yes. The sandbox sends records to the AEAT’s test environment; test invoices carry the QR, the legend and an “ENTORNO DE PRUEBAS” mark and have no legal effect. Switch to production when you are ready.
