Plans and billing

What each plan includes, invoice limits, upgrading and managing your subscription.

What each plan includes

Every plan includes compliant PDFs in five languages, customers, products, payment tracking, sending invoices by email, corrective invoices and all reports. The plans differ in how many invoices you can issue and in a few extra features:

  • Free: up to 14 issued invoices per calendar year, for one person. No credit card needed.
  • Plus: up to 14 issued invoices per calendar month, plus quotes, VERI*FACTU submission to the AEAT (provider fees included) and branded invoices (your logo, colours and font). For one person.
  • Ultimate: everything in Plus, with unlimited invoices and up to 10 people in the workspace (see Team members).

At the time of writing, Plus costs $15 a month or $150 a year, and Ultimate $45 a month or $420 a year, excluding any applicable taxes. You are charged in US dollars. The pricing page on invoice14.com shows approximate prices in euros and pounds, and always has the current figures.

The plan belongs to the workspace, not to a person, so it applies to everyone who works in it.

How the invoice limit works

  • Only issuing counts. Drafts are free, and you can keep as many as you like.
  • Voided invoices still count, because their number was used.
  • Corrective invoices never count and can always be issued, even when you have reached your limit. They fix invoices you have already issued rather than bill anything new. See Corrective invoices and voiding.
  • The count starts again on 1 January on Free, and on the 1st of each month on Plus.
  • Quotes don’t count, and neither does sending an invoice by email or downloading its PDF.

On Free and Plus, the dashboard shows how many invoices you have used (see The dashboard). When you reach the limit, Issue invoice stops with: “Your plan allows 14 invoices per year and you have used them all — upgrade in Billing to issue more.” Your draft is kept. Upgrade and issue it, or wait for the next period.

Pages your plan doesn’t include

Features outside your plan stay where they are in the app, so you can see what they do. Their page opens greyed out, with a window that explains which plan unlocks them:

  • Quotes: Plus and Ultimate. Quotes you made earlier stay visible.
  • Settings → VERI*FACTU: Plus and Ultimate.
  • Settings → Design: Plus and Ultimate. A design you saved earlier is kept and applies again once you upgrade.
  • Settings → Members: Ultimate.
Quotes on the Free plan: the page is greyed out behind an upgrade prompt.

Click View plans to go to Billing, or Not now to close the window. A bar at the top of the page lets you open it again.

Upgrade or change your plan

  1. Click the cog in the top bar, then Billing.
  2. Choose monthly or yearly billing and pick a plan.
  3. Enter your payment details in the checkout panel and confirm.
The three plans. Settings → Billing lists the same plans, each with its own subscribe button.

Changes apply immediately: the new features and allowance are there as soon as checkout finishes, for everyone in the workspace. You can switch to another plan from the same page.

Only the workspace owner can choose or change the plan. Members see “Only the workspace owner can change the plan. Ask them to upgrade if you need more.” instead of the plans.

Payments are handled by our billing provider, so the plans and checkout are shown in English only.

Cancel or downgrade

Open Billing and use the option on your current plan to manage or cancel the subscription. On Ultimate you can also manage the subscription, payment methods and past statements from the billing tab of the Members panel.

When the workspace moves to a smaller plan:

  • Nothing is deleted. Invoices, quotes, customers and settings all stay.
  • Quotes, invoice design, VERI*FACTU and members become greyed out as described above.
  • The lower invoice limit applies straight away. Invoices you already issued this period count towards it.

If VERI*FACTU is on and your plan no longer includes it, no invoices can be issued until you upgrade again or VERI*FACTU is switched off. If you’re leaving a paid plan, switch VERI*FACTU off in Settings before you downgrade. If you’re already stuck, email hello@invoice14.com. See Set up VERI*FACTU.
